Saundra "Sandy” K. Felts, 72, of Sheridan, IN,, formerly of Louisville KY, passed away on Monday morning January 1, 2018 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. Born December 13, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Leon W. and Elberta D. (Cunningham) Jones.
Saundra worked for White Castle for over 20 years. She had an amazingly strong work ethic which would serve her well during those years; she never expected anyone to do anything that she wouldn’t do herself. From cleaning the kitchen to managing the restaurant and everything in between, she did it without giving it a second thought and expected the same in return. Between her responsibilities at the restaurant and being a single mom, she did not have much time for anything else in her life. After her children were grown, Saundra started working as a bank teller with Capital Bank of Kentucky. Following her retirement from the bank in 2012, she moved to Indiana to be closer to her daughter and to her grandchildren who were the highlight of her life. Saundra enjoyed being around people and loved to volunteer.
Saundra was a woman of faith; her church families were a very strong part of her life. She was a longstanding member of Beechland Baptist Church of Louisville and later attended the Sheridan Church of God. Family and friends meant everything to Saundra and she will be dearly missed by all.
Saundra is survived by her 2 sons, Richard Felts and Robert Felts (Jessica), both of Louisville, KY; her daughter Kimberly Kay O’Brien (Mark) of Sheridan; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly; 2 brothers, Larry Jones (Patty) of Lexington, KY, and John Jones (Kathy) of Louisville, KY; 2 sisters Mary Tharp (Clifford) of Louisville, KY, and Patricia Conne’ (Mike) of Cortez, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Richard Jones, Sr. and Bob Jones; and by her sister Pam Cox.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 4:00 pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway. Visitation is Monday from 2 until time of service.
